The Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, serving as the State Registrar for Enrolment & Updation of Aadhaar, is dedicated to delivering seamless Aadhaar services to all residents across the region.
Currently, the Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs operates nine Permanent Enrolment Centres, with five located in Port Blair and one each in Mayabunder, Diglipur, Rangat, and Nicobar. To ensure comprehensive coverage, Special Aadhaar Camps have been actively organised in the most remote areas of the islands. As of now, a total of 432 camps have been conducted throughout the Union Territory.
In a concerted effort to eliminate barriers for residents in Little Andaman, Great Nicobar (Campbell Bay), and the Nancowry group of Islands, the Directorate of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs has established two new Permanent Enrolment Centres. One is situated in Little Andaman and became operational on August 28, 2023, while the other commenced operations in Campbell Bay on September 1, 2023. The Campbell Bay centre aims to serve the residents of the Nancowry group of Islands, including Kamorta, Katchal, Teressa, and Chowra. The department encourages those left out from the Aadhaar enrolment process to avail these services in Little Andaman and Campbell Bay.
As the State Registrar for Aadhaar, the Department is committed to providing comprehensive Aadhaar services to all aspiring residents of the Union Territory. Plans are also underway to establish 2-3 additional Permanent Enrolment Centres in the far-flung areas of the Union Territory in the near future.
This expansion of Aadhaar services underscores the commitment of the Union Territory’s authorities to ensure that every resident, regardless of their geographical location, can access this crucial identification service with ease and convenience.
