PM Modi Highlights Samudrika Naval Marine Museum in Mann Ki Baat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the Samudrika – Naval Marine Museum in Sri Vijaya Puram during the 128th episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, broadcast on 30 November 2025. The Prime Minister spoke about the rising public interest in Navy-linked tourism and the importance of institutions that preserve and promote India’s maritime heritage.

Speaking about the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, he said:
“For those interested in Navy-related tourism, there are many places in our country where they can learn a lot. The ‘Samudrika – Naval Marine Museum’ in Srivijayapuram, formerly known as Port Blair, is known for showcasing the rich history of the region.”

The Samudrika Museum, operated by the Indian Navy, showcases marine biodiversity, tribal culture, naval history, ecological features and the unique natural environment of the Islands. It continues to attract tourists, researchers and students, making it one of the most visited educational centres in the region.

Residents and stakeholders in Sri Vijaya Puram welcomed the Prime Minister’s mention, expressing hope that the recognition would boost tourism, environmental awareness and national attention towards the Islands’ maritime legacy.
