PM SHRI Model Sr. Sec. School Team Wins State-Level Red Ribbon Quiz Competition

The Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS), under the direction of the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, recently organized the State-Level Red Ribbon Quiz Competition for school students.

A total of 24 students from 12 schools across the Islands participated in the event, having qualified through earlier school and zonal rounds. The participants, from Classes VIII, IX and XI, answered questions on a wide range of topics including general health and wellness, adolescent health, menstrual hygiene, healthy diet and nutrition, HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, reproductive health, voluntary blood donation, government health programmes, the HIV & AIDS (Prevention & Control) Act, 2017, and the AIDS Helpline (1097).

In a closely contested final, Ms. Y. Devi and Ms. Lakshita from PM SHRI Model Sr. Sec. School, Mayabunder, secured the first position. The second prize went to Ms. Rehnuma Mondal and Ms. Ananya Emman of Carmel Sr. Sec. School, while Shaurya Goenka and Ritman Maneel from Navy Children School bagged the third prize.

The winning team from PM SHRI Model Sr. Sec. School will represent the Islands at the Regional Level Quiz Competition in Mumbai on September 22, 2025, where state-level winners from six to seven states will compete.

Welcoming the participants, Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, ANACS, commended the enthusiasm of the students and encouraged them to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. He underlined the importance of youth involvement in creating an informed and healthier society.
