The PM Vishwakarma Trade Fair, organised by the Branch MSME–DFO under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), commenced at the ITF Ground here on Wednesday with the aim of promoting traditional artisans, craftsmen and small entrepreneurs by providing them a direct market platform.

The fair, held under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, was inaugurated by Ms. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary (Industries), in the presence of Mr. Atul Soni, Director, Directorate of Industries; Mr. Umar Farooq, Chief Manager, UTLBC; Mr. Pratap, Deputy General Manager, NABARD; and Mr. G. K. Sinha, Assistant Director (In-charge), Branch MSME–DFO, Sri Vijaya Puram.

The inaugural programme featured a series of cultural performances, including traditional dance and singing, which added colour and cultural vibrancy to the event.

As part of the initiative, a total of 70 stalls have been set up, showcasing a diverse range of locally made products by artisans and micro-entrepreneurs. The fair drew a large number of visitors on its opening day, indicating strong public interest and support for indigenous products and traditional skills.

The trade fair seeks to enable artisans to sell their products directly to consumers, gain wider market exposure, enhance income opportunities and strengthen economic self-reliance, in line with the objectives of the Ministry of MSME.

The PM Vishwakarma Trade Fair will continue for the next two days, on January 29 and 30, 2026. Members of the general public have been invited to visit the fair and support local artisans and entrepreneurs, thereby encouraging traditional skills and local enterprises.
