The District Industries Centre (DIC) and Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) have called upon beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to complete the mandatory Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) training to facilitate loan disbursement.
DIC and KVIB, the implementing agencies for PMEGP across the Union Territory, stated that beneficiaries whose loans have already been sanctioned by the respective banks must undergo EDP training as per the project’s requirements. According to PMEGP guidelines, training is mandatory for all sanctioned projects with costs exceeding ₹2 lakh.
For projects costing up to ₹5 lakh, the duration of the EDP training is set at a minimum of five days. For projects above ₹5 lakh, the training period extends to at least 10 days. However, no EDP training is required for projects where the cost does not exceed ₹2 lakh.
The process begins with the implementing agencies—DIC and KVIB—forwarding verified online applications to the banks chosen by the applicants. After reviewing the documents and information submitted by the candidates, the banks make the credit decision, sanction the loan, and recommend the applicants for EDP training. This training is required before the disbursement of the first loan installment and the release of the margin money subsidy under the PMEGP scheme.
To streamline the loan disbursement process, all applicants who have received a loan sanction letter from their respective banks are encouraged to promptly complete the EDP training through the Udyami Portal (https://www.udyami.org.in). This will enable banks to disburse loans after completing the necessary formalities.
