Under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Ankit Yadav (IAS), the Deputy Commissioner of N & M Andaman, a pivotal meeting was convened to discuss the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), marking a significant leap towards strengthening the fisheries sector. The meeting was held to discuss the selection of 49 beneficiaries for various subsidy programs aimed at boosting the fisheries industry.
The session primarily focused on identifying deserving beneficiaries for an array of subsidy programs, including the construction of Fish Kiosks, Fish Ponds, Fish Value Added Units, Freshwater Finfish Hatcheries, new Grow-Out Ponds, Ice plant and Cold Storage, Two-Wheelers with Iceboxes, Refrigerated Vehicles, and Insulated Vehicles.
From this insightful meeting, the Committee has recommended 14 beneficiaries for subsidies across various components of the PMMSY, highlighting the government’s unwavering commitment to support and empower individuals within the fisheries sector. These subsidies are designed to promote growth, sustainability, and productivity among the selected beneficiaries.
Furthermore, the meeting also announced the appointment of Sagar Mitra to fortify the functioning and outreach of the PMMSY. The introduction of Sagar Mitra is poised to bring substantial expertise, guidance, and support to ensure the successful implementation and execution of the Yojana’s objectives.
This proactive meeting serves as a testament to the government’s dedication to fortify the fisheries sector, improving the lives of numerous individuals and reinforcing the nation’s journey towards a thriving and sustainable fisheries ecosystem under the PMMSY. The PMMSY aims to transform the fisheries industry, create economic opportunities, and enhance food security across the region.
