Police Bust Narcotics Trafficking Module Targeting Students in South Andaman District

In a major breakthrough, the team of Police Station Ograbraj successfully dismantled a narcotics trafficking module that was preying on students in the south Andaman district. The operation, conducted on 16th July 2023, resulted in the arrest of two accused individuals who have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. During the raid, a substantial haul of 225 grams of illicit Ganja was seized.

Acting on credible information, a specialized team led by SI Devanand Pathak, SHO of PS Ograbraj, and comprising of officers Rakesh Narayan, Biplob Das, H A Clinton, Sammi Begum, and Nizamudeen, was assembled under the supervision of Mr. Arshdeep Singh Panwar, SDPO Bambooflat. The team conducted a meticulously planned operation at the Chouldari area, which resulted in the apprehension of two key individuals involved in the trafficking ring.

The arrested individuals were identified as Mubeer, aged 31, and the owner of Mubeer Chicken Centre, Calicut, and M Machal Raj, aged 29, a private driver residing near P R Kumar Store Kamraj Nagar, Calicut. The recovery of 225 grams of Ganja during the raid provided crucial evidence for their involvement in the illegal narcotics trade.

Further investigations are underway as the police believe that these two individuals are the kingpins of a larger syndicate responsible for trafficking drugs to students and hostel residents of various educational institutions in and around Port Blair. With this successful operation, the police have struck a significant blow to the syndicate, disrupting their nefarious activities.

The authorities have urged the general public to come forward and share any information related to criminal activities or other illegal dealings by contacting the police at 112, 03192-232100, or 03192-236641. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential, encouraging citizens to play an active role in curbing crime in the region.
