In a swift and targeted operation on December 7, 2023, the Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Kalighat, acting on credible intelligence, mobilised a specialised team to investigate reports of illicit liquor production in the Kishorinagar jungle. Led by Sub-Inspector Silpi Singha, the team comprised Police Constables Sushil Sarkar, Ranjit Biswas, and Eleen.
Conducting a thorough search operation in the Parangara and Kishorinagar III jungle areas, the team made a significant discovery. They found a substantial stash of Lehan, totalling 330 litres, concealed in plastic drums and buckets deep within the jungle, strategically positioned away from the main road of Kishorinagar.
No individuals claiming ownership were present at the location. Consequently, the Kalighat Police team promptly proceeded to destroy the confiscated Lehan, along with the associated paraphernalia and equipment used in its production.
