Police Crack Down on Illegal Gambling: Seven Apprehended, ₹83,400 Seized

In a decisive operation, the Police Station Crime & Economic Offence (C&EO) conducted a successful raid at Junglighat, behind Shalini Hotel and apprehended seven individuals involved in illegal gambling activities. The raid, spearheaded by Sub-Inspector Parvash and his team, resulted in the seizure of ₹83,400 in cash.

The operation was executed under the direct supervision of Inspector Girish Kumar, Station House Officer of PS C&EO, and reflects the department’s commitment to curbing illegal practices in the region. The raiding team included HC Sanjay Kujur, PC N. Thangaraj, PC Y. Srinivas Rao, and PC Rajendan, who strategically planned and carried out the operation.

According to sources, the police team moved swiftly during the raid, despite attempts by the suspects to flee. All seven individuals were successfully apprehended. A thorough search of the suspects revealed ₹73,420 in “board money” used for gambling, while an additional ₹9,980 was recovered from their personal possessions, bringing the total amount seized to ₹83,400.

The apprehended individuals have been charged under Sections 5 and 7 of the Andaman and Nicobar Gambling Regulation, 1951. This operation marks yet another step in the Police Station C&EO’s ongoing efforts to maintain law and order and to protect the community from unlawful activities.
