In a firm crackdown on illegal liquor operations, the Campbell Bay Police carried out a special excise raid and jungle search operation across multiple locations on April 1 and 2, 2025. The operation targeted Gandhi Nagar, Rajiv Nagar, and the adjoining areas of Laxman Beach.
Led by Sub-Inspector Vinit Kumar Maurya of Police Station Campbell Bay, the operation was conducted by a dedicated team comprising HC S.P. Baroi, PC T. Murali, Ct. Kunal Kumar (OP Gandhi Nagar), and PCs Bikash Sen, Ghanshyam Bhagat, Pranab Karmakar, Akash Saojal, Mohd. Sahil, Y. Shiju Raj, Mohd. Riyaz, and Abhishek Narayan.
The police team seized 70 litres of illicit liquor and destroyed 88 litres of Lehan (fermented wash) found during the operation. Photographic evidence of the seizure was also documented.
Following the raid, three cases were registered under the relevant sections of the Excise Regulation (Reg. III of 1876) against the accused individuals involved in the illegal distillation and sale of liquor.
The successful operation was carried out under the close supervision of Mr. Aditya Kumar, DANIPS, SDPO Campbell Bay, and the overall direction of SP (D) Nicobar, Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to eradicating illegal liquor trade in the region and urged the public to report any suspicious activities.
