In a decisive move against bootlegging, the Pahargaon Police Station carried out a swift and successful excise raid, leading to the arrest of one individual and the seizure of 92 sealed bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
Acting on credible information, the police team was alerted to a large stockpile of IMFL being stored behind an abandoned old quarter opposite Shishu Mandir School in New Pahargaon. A special team, including Head Constable Sunil Singh Yadav and Police Constables Ashish Kumar Singh and Santosh Lall, was immediately formed to address the situation.
The team quickly mobilised and conducted a raid at the specified location, where they recovered 24 bottles of 750 ml IMFL and 68 bottles of 180 ml IMFL from the possession of R. Bala Murugan, 39, a private worker residing in Garacharma, Kaju Tikrey. The seized liquor was immediately confiscated, and Murugan was apprehended under relevant sections of the Excise Regulation.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Inspector Mohd. Elias, SHO of Pahargaon Police Station, with close supervision by Mr. Vikas, IPS, SDPO (S/A), and overall supervision by Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
