In a determined move to combat the illegal drug trade, the Bambooflat Police Station, under the leadership of Mr. Arshdeep Singh Panwar, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat, executed a operation on the 23rd of October, 2023, leading to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of a significant quantity of illicit ganja.
Acting on credible information, the police team, consisting of Inspector K. Abdul Nasir, SHO PS Bambooflat, SI G. Krishna Murthy, SI Samiran Mridha, HC Zubair, PCs Shiva Kumar, Suresh Kumar, T. Abdul Ameen, M. T. Mustafa, Molina, and HG (D) Thanga Raj, intercepted a man named Zakir Hussain behind the village road of Surya Chakra Power House, Bambooflat. During the search, the officers recovered 20 grams of illicit ganja in his possession. As a result, a case was promptly registered at PS Bambooflat against Zakir Hussain Mondal, also known as Bappi, a 29-year-old resident of a rented house at Shore Point, under the provisions of the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance Act (NDPS Act).
Further investigation revealed that Zakir Hussain had purchased the ganja from one Hasanur Mondal, a mungfali vendor residing in Mohanpura. The police team swiftly apprehended Hasanur Mondal and conducted a thorough search of his residence. To their surprise, they discovered 3.790 kilograms of illicit ganja, neatly wrapped in nine different packets, concealed inside a trolley bag. In addition to the drugs, a substantial amount of cash, totalling Rs. 64,975, was seized, along with an electronic weighing machine.
Hasanur Mondal, a 31-year-old resident living behind the Private Bus Stand in Mohanpura, was promptly arrested on the spot, facing charges under the NDPS Act.
The entire operation was conducted under the vigilant oversight of Mr. Kalaivanan R, IPS, Superintendent of Police for South Andaman District.
