In a concerted effort to raise awareness and promote safety for women and children, Police Station Katchal organised a comprehensive program on Women’s Safety and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on September 23, 2023. The event, held at the auditorium of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) Kapanga, aimed to enlighten students and educators about these critical issues.
During the event, Sub Inspector Mr. Subramani, Station House Officer, along with his team, delivered informative sessions on various legal provisions addressing sexual harassment and the associated punishments. They also shed light on the Nirbhaya Scheme, the importance of understanding “good touch” and “bad touch,” juvenile laws, and measures for the care and protection of minors.
The program sought to empower students with knowledge and the confidence to report instances of such crimes. Mr. Subramani passionately urged students to come forward and report any incidents related to sexual harassment, emphasizing the role they play in ensuring a safer society for all.
The event served as a valuable platform for the community to engage with law enforcement officials and receive guidance on issues that are often shrouded in stigma and silence. By fostering dialogue and understanding, the Police Station Katchal’s initiative aims to contribute to a safer environment for women and children in the region.
