Police Seizes 4.295 KG of Methamphetamine in Little Andaman Worth Approx. Rs. 9 Crores

In a significant move against illegal activities in South Andaman District, the Police team from PS Hut Bay has confiscated a substantial quantity of crystalline Methamphetamine weighing 4.295 kilograms. This latest seizure, conducted under the NDPS Act, marks a notable breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on narcotics in the region.

The operation unfolded on 24th November 2023 at 0500 hrs following a credible tip-off received by the authorities. A reliable source reported that an unidentified individual had concealed Crystalline Methamphetamine near Jackson Creek Jungle in Little Andaman for illicit purposes. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, a specialised police search team led by SI Somen Kr. Haldar, SHO PS Hut Bay, ASI Krishna Rao, HC/1875 Swapan Kumar Dey, PC/2800 Anbu Kumar, CT/213 Jawahar Kujur, PC/951 Mohammad Hanifa, was assembled under the supervision of Mr. Manasvi Vashista, SDPO (Swaraj Dweep).

The team promptly proceeded to Jackson Creek, Little Andaman, and conducted an extensive search operation in the dense jungle. Their efforts bore fruit as they discovered four suspicious packets carefully concealed amidst the bushes near the Creek. These recovered packets contained crystalline methamphetamine weighing a total of 4.295 kgs, with an estimated street value of approximately Rs. 9 Crores in the international market.

A case has been registered at PS Hut Bay against an unknown individual, and investigations are currently underway. Superintendent of Police (South Andaman) Mr. Kalaivanan. R, IPS supervised the overall search operation.

The Andaman & Nicobar Police have been actively engaging with the general public, encouraging them to report any information related to illegal drugs. This recent success in seizing a substantial quantity of Methamphetamine in Little Andaman echoes the result of such sustained efforts.
