In a significant crackdown on drug-related activities, a collaborative operation involving the Narcotics Cell of CID Unit, and PS Central Crime Station has led to the seizure of 497 bottles of Codeine-based cough syrup and the arrest of one suspect.
Acting on precise intelligence received, a team of dedicated officers, led by Inspector Vishal Ram, SHO PS CCS, and Inspector S. Kannan, in-charge of the Narcotic Cell, CID Unit, launched an operation in the Garacharma area of Port Blair. The team included Sub-Inspectors Parvash and Mohd. Rahil Islam, as well as Head Constables Sanjit Madhu, Sanjay Kujur, and Police Constables Rajendran, Thanga Raj, Chandran, Nandita Mistry, Ratan Das, Vishal Kumar, and Raja Rao. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Vinay Mathur (DANIPS), Dy.SP.
During the operation, the officers apprehended one individual identified as Pushpa Raj Shukla, a resident of Garacharma, who was found in possession of a substantial quantity of Codeine-based cough syrup in his residence. A total of five brown-colored carton boxes containing 497 bottles of 100 ml “CODMED-T” Codeine-based cough syrup were confiscated from the premises. Pushpa Raj Shukla was immediately taken into custody, with all necessary legal procedures followed meticulously.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, at PS CCS. The investigation into this case is currently ongoing.
