Police Seizes Approx. 1 Kg of Ganja in Rangat, One Arrested in Swift Anti-Drug Operation

In a swift and well-coordinated operation, the Rangat Police foiled an illegal drug trafficking attempt in Janakpur and recovered approximately 1 kilogram of ganja from the possession of an accused individual.

The action was initiated following credible intelligence received by the police. Acting promptly on the tip-off, a raiding team was constituted under the supervision of Mr. Rajnikant Awadhiya, DANIPS, SDPO Rangat.

The team, led by Inspector Mohd. Sameer, SHO of Police Station Rangat, included SI Abdul Sajeed, PCs K. Samir, Yashwant Rao, T.K. Anas, T. Abdul Ameen, K.M. Basheer, and Miss K.P. Nasreen (SOCO), along with two independent witnesses. They rushed to the location and, upon receiving a pre-arranged signal from the informer, intercepted the suspect.

A personal search of the individual led to the recovery of about 1 kg of ganja. During preliminary interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to his involvement in the offence. He was arrested on the spot, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation is underway.

The North & Middle Andaman District Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining a drug-free society through strict enforcement, rapid response, and active community involvement.
