In a significant crackdown on illegal drug activities, the Swaraj Dweep Police successfully seized 66 grams of illicit Ganja during a raid at the PG’s Room of Coral Reef Hotel on Swaraj Dweep Island. The operation led to the arrest of one individual involved in the illegal possession of the narcotic.
Acting on credible intelligence, a team of officers, led by Inspector K. Abdul Nasir, SHO of PS Swaraj Dweep, along with SI Rakesh Singh and PCs Vikash Kumar Pandey, Prashant Deep Dung Dung, Suraj Kumar, Mohammed Sharif, Mohammed Asif, Abdul Basheer, and PC (D) P. Jagan, conducted a swift raid in a PG’s room at Coral Reef Hotel. During the search, the police recovered 66 grams of Ganja and a handmade Chillam from the possession of the accused, identified as Amit Kumar Mahato, a 24-year-old bartender employed at the Coral Reef Hotel. Mahato, originally from Adityapur in Jharkhand, was residing in a PG’s Room of the hotel.
Following the raid, the seized Ganja, with an estimated market value of ₹6,600, was confiscated on the spot. The accused was subsequently arrested and taken to PS Swaraj Dweep, with all necessary legal formalities observed during the process.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Manasvi Vashistha, DANIPS, SDPO Swaraj Dweep, and overall supervision of Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman.
