Pahargaon Police Station executed a substantial seizure operation on November 28, 2023, in Attam Pahad Kilan, intercepting a Wooden Engine Dinghy named “BEDFULLY” with registration number IND AN SA. MO. No. /2210. Led by Inspector Mariam, the team successfully confiscated a vast quantity of Padauk wood aboard the vessel.
The seized haul included 58 pieces of Padauk wood planks measuring 72 x 2.5 x 200CM, 04 pieces measuring 72 x 2.5 x 100CM, and 58 pieces of Padauk wood beams measuring 16 x 10 x 220 CM. Notably, the individuals on board, identified as C.H. Prabhas (33 yrs) and Dinesh Tirkey (35 yrs), failed to produce any legal documentation validating the purchase or transportation of the recovered Padauk wood.
In response to their inability to provide adequate clarification, the police team confiscated both the forest products and the Wooden Engine Dinghy on the spot. The detained individuals, C.H. Prabhas from Tsunami Shelter Nayashahar, son of Late C.H. Danaiah, and Dinesh Tirkey from Tushnabad Ranchi Basti, son of Late Vinod Tirkey, were promptly apprehended.
The seized items, alongside the detained individuals, were handed over to Forest Officials for further investigation and legal procedures. This operation was conducted under the close supervision of Mr. Sunny Gupta, IPS, SDPO South Andaman, and the overall direction of Mr. Kalaivanan.
