Police Station Bambooflat Seizes 32 Kg of Illegal Venison

A routine patrol led by Sub-Inspector Rangaswamy, In-charge of OP Wimberlygunj, along with Police Constables S. Srinivasan and Harinder Kumar, resulted in a significant seizure of 32 kilograms of illegal venison.

The operation unfolded in the Padauk Bagicha area, where the patrol team observed a white OMNI vehicle, registration number AN01 L-2332, speeding towards Wimberlygunj. Suspecting foul play, the team promptly stopped the vehicle for inspection. Upon checking, they discovered 32 kilograms of deer meat hidden inside.

The driver, identified as S. Venkat Raman from Valluvar Nagar, Bambooflat, was immediately detained. Both the vehicle and the illegal venison were seized on the spot under sections 50 and 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, following all legal formalities. The detained individual and the seized items were later handed over to the Forest Department for further investigation and necessary action.

This operation underscores the A&N Police’s dedication to enforcing wildlife protection laws and curbing illegal trade activities. The patrol team’s vigilance and swift action have significantly disrupted the illegal venison market.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Inspector Rizwan Hassan, SHO PS Bambooflat, and Mr. Vinay Mathur, SDPO Bambooflat, with overall supervision by Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
