Polling Materials Dispatched to Outer Islands Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections-2024

In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the dispatch of essential Polling Materials, including Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPATs), and Polling kits, has commenced with heightened security measures.

On April 15, 2024, a significant step was taken as Polling Materials were dispatched to several key locations including Rangat, Mayabunder, Diglipur, Little Andaman, and Car Nicobar via ship. The transportation process was meticulously coordinated with full security and protection measures in place to ensure the safe delivery of the materials. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, along with Executive Magistrates, were deployed to accompany the Polling Materials to their respective destinations, reinforcing the commitment to safeguarding the electoral process.

Further arrangements are underway for the dispatch of Polling Materials to Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, and Strait Island, scheduled for April 18. Additionally, the distribution of Polling Materials for Port Blair and Ferrargunj Tehsils is slated to occur from Netaji Stadium on the same day.

It’s noteworthy that the Receiving Centre for Polled EVMs, the Strong Room designated for the secure storage of EVMs, and the Counting Center have been designated at JNRM (Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya).

As the nation gears up for the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, such proactive measures underscore the commitment to conducting free, fair, and secure elections, ensuring the voice of every citizen is heard and respected.
