The ICDS Project (Rural), Diglipur, North Andaman, launched the 7th edition of POSHAN Pakhwada on April 8, joining the nationwide campaign aimed at tackling malnutrition and promoting nutritional awareness.

Scheduled from April 8 to 22, POSHAN Pakhwada 2025 focuses on four key themes: the importance of the first 1,000 days of life, promotion of the Poshan Tracker’s Beneficiary/Citizen Module, community-based management of malnutrition (CMAM), and encouraging healthy lifestyles to prevent childhood obesity.

The launch event featured a rally organized by ICDS, which was flagged off by the Assistant Commissioner and SDM of Diglipur. It was followed by a Rangoli competition and an awareness programme held at the GPOA Hall in the Administrative Building, Diglipur.

The programme was attended by several local officials, including the BDO of Diglipur, the Up-Pramukh of Panchayat Samiti, and representatives from MGNREGA.

During the event, speakers highlighted the significance of early childhood nutrition, particularly during the first 1,000 days from conception, as a critical window for breaking the cycle of malnutrition. Emphasis was also placed on empowering Anganwadi workers, using digital tools for better tracking and outreach, and promoting healthier habits among children.

The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to the participants of the Rangoli competition.
