Post Office Building at Campbell Bay Screams for Maintenance

Post Offices are one of the most commonly visited buildings by the general public. India Post has proven its worth even in the age of email. All rural areas of our country is connected by Post Offices. The services of post offices are not only used for sending letters and parcels but post offices also serve as banks for the rural population.

Thousands of residents save their hard-earned money in different schemes of India Post because of the trust they have in the brand. Recently India Post has also started opening up its own ATMs for the convenience of the general public.

The Post Office Building at Campbell Bay was constructed before the Tsunami of 2004 and post Tsunami some minor alterations were made to the building for it to be used.

Today the building stands in pathetic condition. The paint of the building is shredding, the roofs leaking. The windows of the building are non-existent and is anyhow covered with banners and other material. The toilets basins have served their life and needs replacement. The wiring has worn out and needs to be replaced immediately.

The senior officers of India Post are reportedly not paying attention to the pathetic condition of the building which may one day become the cause of an accident.

The worn-out wiring of the Post Office building of Campbell Bay is very dangerous as the water during rain also seeps into the wall, which may lead to a fire accident.

There is an urgent need for a major maintenance of the building to prevent any untoward incident.
