Electricity Department is currently grappling with a power generation shortfall of 6 MW. This deficit arises from the shutdown of the 5 MW power plant operated by M/s. Sudhir Reddy Gen Set Consortium, which is transitioning to a new contract. Additionally, M/s. Express Genset Consortium Pvt. Ltd. (NVVN) has reduced its power supply from 10 MW to 9 MW.
To address this shortage, the Electricity Department will implement rotational load shedding, if necessary. Each session will last for 45 minutes daily, following a tentative schedule. This measure aims to manage the power deficit and will be enforced in Port Blair and South Andaman areas for the next 10 days or until further notice.
The load shedding schedule is subject to change based on power generation availability and other technical factors. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest announcements from the Electricity Department.
