The Pradesh Youth Congress, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, organized a massive protest rally in Sri Vijaya Puram on 10th February 2025, as part of the nationwide “Naukri Do Nasha Nahi” campaign. The rally was led by National Youth Congress President Mr. Uday Bhanu Chib and Pradesh Youth Congress President Ms. Diksha Dular.
Hundreds of protestors marched from Gandhi Bhavan to the Gandhi Statue, holding Youth Congress flags and placards, raising slogans against the rising menace of drug abuse among the youth of the islands. The campaign aims to spread awareness about the growing drug addiction crisis while demanding better employment opportunities for the youth.
Addressing the gathering at the culmination of the rally, Youth Congress leaders highlighted the devastating impact of drug abuse on individuals and society. They called for immediate action from the administration to curb substance abuse and emphasized the need for comprehensive policies to tackle unemployment in the region.
Prominent leaders who participated in the protest included ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder, Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker, AICC Joint Secretary and Youth Congress In-charge Mr. Krishna Allavaru, and Youth Congress In-charge Ms. Sagarika Rao. Senior Congress leaders, ANTCC spokespersons, PBMC councillors, PRI members, and Zilla Parishad members also extended their support to the movement.
The “Naukri Do Nasha Nahi” campaign, initiated by the Youth Congress at the national level, aims to inspire the youth to choose career growth over addiction and urges the government to take concrete steps to address the twin challenges of unemployment and drug abuse.
Youth Congress leaders reiterated their commitment to creating a drug-free society and ensuring a brighter future for the younger generation of the islands.
