Campbell Bay, 09 June 2022

Mr. Mithun Das, Pradhan, GP Ramnagar along with Samiti Member, Ramnagar and Gram Panchayat Members of GP Ramnagar have written a letter to the Prime Minister, Chief Election Commissioner, Union Home Minister, Union Minister for Rural Development, Lt. Governor (A & N Islands) and Chief Secretary (A & N Islands), informing that they would offer mass resignation in a month if the STS Bus Service to their village is not restored.

In their letter, the elected members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions have explained that STS has stopped the bus service to their village from the last 01 year due to the bad condition of the road.

The PRI members have also informed that the Panchayat is unable to repair the road because the road has been taken under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. The sanction for the repair of the road is not being granted to the Panchayat.

They further added that students, old aged persons, specially-abled citizens and the general public currently have to walk for long distances to catch the bus from the main road.

PRI members have further informed that they have already pleaded with the authorities to restart the bus service to their village, but their requests have not been accepted.

PRI Members in their letter have informed that STS is providing bus services on worst roads, but they are refusing to provide services to their village where the road is in a fairly better condition.

PRI Members have requested the authorities to either help them in the repair of the road from the check post at the main road to their village or to help them by restarting the STS bus service within one month, failing which they would resign from their respective posts.
