Pramukh, Campbell Bay Expresses Gratitude for Scheduling of Ship to Chennai via Campbell Bay

Mr. E.S Rajesh, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Campbell Bay has expressed gratitude to the officers of the Administration for scheduling a ship from Port Blair to Chennai via Nancowry & Campbell Bay. He also requested the officers of A & N Administration to schedule ships to Chennai via Campbell Bay regularly every month for the benefit of the general public. 

Speaking to Nicobar Times, Mr. E.S Rajesh informed that earlier before the COVID-19 pandemic regular monthly sailing of ships to Chennai via Campbell Bay was a norm, especially during the summer months when most residents visit their native state.

He also informed that Chennai Sailing via Campbell Bay is very beneficial for the local population as it saves both money and time. He added that the business community of Great Nicobar as well as consumers of the Island also benefit from the direct sailing as cargo is easily imported directly from Chennai, especially perishables, which are then sold at relatively lower prices compared to when the cargo is imported from Port Blair.

Mr. E S Rajesh further added that if ships to Chennai are regularly scheduled via Campbell Bay it will help in the overall development of the Island.

Mr. E S Rajesh had earlier requested Mr. Yash Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District to schedule direct sailing from Campbell Bay to Chennai during the summer months for the benefit of the local population.

Directorate of Shipping Services has scheduled the sailing of MV Campbell Bay from Port Blair to Chennai via Nancowry & Campbell Bay on 5th of April 2022 the ship start its return journey from Chennai to Port Blair via Campbell Bay and Nancowry on 12th April 2022.
