The much-anticipated Holiday Camp-2024, organized by the Science Centre, embarked on its journey on May 2nd, 2024. The inaugural ceremony, graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Dilip Kumar Jha, Officer In-charge of the National Institute of Ocean Technology, Port Blair, unfolded amidst the vibrant ambience of Goodwill Estate, where the Science Centre is nestled.
Addressing a throng of eager student participants, Dr. Jha commended the Science Centre’s initiative in orchestrating a holiday camp spanning various disciplines with innovative flair. He passionately urged the students to cultivate a profound interest in scientific exploration and innovation, peppering his discourse with relatable anecdotes from everyday life.
Mr. Shajan Thomas, the Curator of the Science Centre, highlighted the plethora of interactive exhibits and facilities available, underscoring their potential utility for the attending students beyond the confines of the month-long holiday camp.
In his welcoming address, Mr. Debashis Paul, Education Officer at the Science Centre, provided a succinct overview of the diverse activities slated for the duration of the camp, setting the tone for an enriching learning experience.
Drawing participants from diverse schools across the A&N Islands, approximately 150 students have eagerly enrolled in the camp, which is scheduled to run until May 30th, 2024. The ceremony culminated with a vote of thanks extended by Ms. Shradha Nair, representing the Science Centre, expressing gratitude to all involved parties for their contributions towards nurturing scientific curiosity among the youth.
