In a significant move aimed at bolstering the financial stability of rural citizens, the Government of India has initiated a Central Sector Scheme known as ‘Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with improvised Technology in Village Areas’ (SVAMITVA). This visionary program seeks to empower rural residents by enabling them to leverage their property as a financial asset, making them eligible for loans and other financial benefits.
As part of the SVAMITVA scheme, Property Cards have been issued to eligible individuals. The Administration and Revenue Department are actively encouraging people in rural areas to make use of these Property Cards due to their convenience and digital accessibility, especially when applying for loans and other financial benefits provided by the Government of India. These Property Cards are easily accessible online at http://db.and.nic.in/propertycard.
Recognising the immense potential of Property Cards in streamlining financial transactions and facilitating access to government-sponsored schemes, the Revenue Department recently held a meeting with the Lead Bank – State Bank of India (SBI), along with other scheduled banks. During the meeting, banks were encouraged to incorporate Property Cards as part of their documentary requirements for various public sector schemes.
This proactive step is expected to enhance the usage and popularity of Property Cards, further strengthening the financial prospects of rural citizens. By leveraging property ownership, individuals can not only secure loans but also tap into a wide array of government initiatives, fostering economic growth and prosperity in rural India.
The SVAMITVA scheme, with its emphasis on property documentation and financial inclusion, represents a significant stride towards empowering rural communities and catalysing economic development across the nation.
