Prophetess Priya Ministries, a non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting the underprivileged, commemorated World Pulses Day by distributing pulses and honouring local farmers at a program held at the Panchayat Hall, Office of Gram Panchayat, Neil Kendra, Shaheed Dweep.

With a mission to serve the people of the islands with compassion and dedication, the organisation aimed to highlight the nutritional importance of pulses, particularly for those who struggle to afford or access protein-rich foods. The initiative also sought to recognise the hard work of farmers in Shaheed Dweep, once a thriving agricultural hub now witnessing a decline in farming activities.

The pulse distribution program was led by Ms. Priya Basu, Founder and Patron of Prophetess Priya Ministries, benefitting a total of 85 individuals in need. Chief Guest Lt. Col. (Dr.) Nirmal Kumar Bajpayee, Chief Medical Officer In-Charge of PHC Shaheed Dweep, addressed the gathering on the health benefits of pulses, promoting their role in a balanced diet and encouraging healthy eating habits.

Ms. Pinky Das, Pradhan of Shaheed Dweep, commended the organisation for its impactful work and stressed the significance of non-profit initiatives in addressing the needs of rural communities. The event was also attended by several distinguished guests, including Mr. Bimal Kumar Roy, Former Pradhan, Former Zilla Parishad Member, and National Youth Awardee. Other key attendees included the current Zilla Parishad member, the Station House Officer of Shaheed Dweep Police Station, and heads of the Agriculture and Forest departments, among others.

During the event, the dignitaries were honoured by Ms. Priya Basu, alongside Ms. Abha John (General Secretary), Ms. M.G. Valleria (Joint Secretary), and Mr. V. Vishal Rao (Treasurer). Ms. Valleria delivered a warm welcome speech, while Ms. Basu expressed heartfelt gratitude to all guests, participants, and contributors for making the event a success.

The program concluded with a group photograph featuring the beneficiaries holding their distributed pulses, capturing a moment of joy and gratitude. Following the event, transport was arranged by the State Transport Service, upon request by Pradhan Pinky Das, to ensure a convenient return for the attendees.

The initiative by Prophetess Priya Ministries stands as a testament to the power of community service, fostering both nutritional awareness and appreciation for local farmers in Shaheed Dweep.
