Indefinite Relay Hunger Strike has been called by the candidates who had appeared for the recruitment of Civil Defence Volunteers at Campbell Bay from 10:00 Am on 28th August 2021 in front of AC Office, Campbell Bay. The candidates are being supported by the members of the general public.

Earlier Nicobar Times had reported that several candidates who had appeared for the interview of the Civil Defence Volunteers have alleged that five of the ten recruits are closely related to the staff working at Assistant Commissioner’s Office, Campbell Bay.

On 25th of August 2021 the candidates wrote a letter to the Assistant Commissioner requesting him to cancel the recruitment and carry out a fresh recruitment process. The candidates have also demanded that the recruitment panel this time should have equal members of the general public and officers, to ensure free and fair selection.

In the letter addressed to the Assistant Commissioner the candidates had informed that if their demands are not met they will resort to an indefinite hunger strike from 28th of August 2021.

The letter submitted by the candidates also had the names and the relation of the candidates with the staff working at the Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay.
