Indefinite relay hunger strike called by the candidates who had appeared for the interview of Civil Defence Volunteers was called off at late night on 28th August 2021 after Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay & SDPO, Campbell Bay visited the protest site and Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District spoke to the protestors on phone.
The protestors will now submit a written representation to the Deputy Commissioner and he has assured to look into the issue within one week.
The protestors further informed the authorities that they will continue the protests in case the final decision is not in their favour.
The candidates who had appeared for the Civil Defence Volunteer Interview had alleged that five out of the ten recruits are close associates and relatives of the staff of Assistant Commissioner Office, Campbell Bay.
