Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) organized a protest march in Port Blair on October 7th, 2023, to voice their strong condemnation of the BJP IT Cell for depicting Mr. Rahul Gandhi as the ‘NEW AGE RAAVAN’ in a social media poster.

Led by ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker, Congress leaders and workers marched from Gandhi Bhawan to Gandhi Statue, brandishing banners and the party flag. They chanted slogans against Prime Minister Modi and the BJP IT Cell.

Addressing the party workers during the protest, Mr. Halder emphasised, “Rahul Gandhi spreads the message of love and brotherhood, but the BJP has portrayed him as a ‘Raavan’. This reflects the mindset of the BJP and its ideological fountainhead RSS.” He further stated that the BJP’s actions were driven by fear of Rahul Gandhi’s popularity and that the people of the country would ultimately decide who represents ‘Ram’ and ‘Raavan,’ just as they did in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh.

The protest served a dual purpose informed the party: first, to defend the reputation and dignity of their leader, and second, to take a firm stand against the propagation of hate and divisive politics. It was a rallying call for Congress party supporters deeply aggrieved by the derogatory depiction of their leader.

Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee filed a formal complaint against the BJP IT Cell, submitting it to the Aberdeen Police Station. This complaint underscores the need for legal action in response to the circulation of the objectionable poster.

The event witnessed the participation of senior Congress leaders, Mahila leaders, Congress Seva Dal & Committee members, City Congress & Committee representatives, Frontal Organisations & Committee members, ANTCC Department & Cells members, PBMC Councillors, and dedicated workers of the Congress Party.
