In a major success against the illegal drug trade, Police Station Aberdeen has arrested three drug peddlers in separate cases and seized a total of 8.705 kilograms of ganja and 1.68 grams of methamphetamine during a series of coordinated operations carried out last week.
A special team, constituted under the leadership of Inspector Vishal Ram, SHO PS Aberdeen, and comprising SI Samiran Mridha, HC Sunil Singh Yadav, and PCs K. Jayraj, P. Mohd. Rafique, Jagdish Babu, Surender Singh Yadav and Anup Majh, launched targeted raids across different locations after receiving credible intelligence inputs.
On August 28, the team intercepted 27-year-old Alapati Mani Raju, a resident of Dollygunj, near the Fisheries Training Centre at Sea Shore Road, Dignabad, and recovered 8.120 kilograms of ganja from his possession. The very next day, police raided the Joggers Park area near Forest Nursery at Sri Vijaya Puram and arrested Kuldeep Singh, 27, a private worker and resident of Goal Ghar, with 585 grams of ganja. On August 30, the crackdown continued when the team apprehended 26-year-old C. Sathyapriya, son of N. Chandran and resident of Dairy Farm, from the backside of ITF Ground, Sri Vijaya Puram, with 1.68 grams of methamphetamine.
All three accused have been booked under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and further investigations are underway.
The operations were carried out under the command of Mr. Ajay Kumar Rai, DANIIPS, SDPO South Andaman, and overall supervision of Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
