In a major breakthrough, Police Station Aberdeen of the Andaman and Nicobar Police have unearthed an organised racket involving the circulation of forged Local Certificates in the Little Andaman area. The case was detected by Police Station Aberdeen with the effective assistance and close coordination of PS Hut Bay, highlighting strong inter-district cooperation.

An FIR was registered at PS Aberdeen on December 1, 2025, after it came to light that forged Local Certificates were being used in the R.K. Pur area of Little Andaman. The investigation was entrusted to Sub-Inspector Tejeshwar Rao. During the course of the probe, police seized 17 forged Local Certificates, all found to be identical in format and bearing a forged digital signature with the same time-stamp—29.05.2023 at 10:33:01 hrs—in the name of the then Tehsildar, Mr. Gopal Chandra Mosid.

Further investigation revealed that the certificates were digitally forged by Sujoy Mondal of Dairy Farm, Sri Vijaya Puram. These forged documents were allegedly circulated in Little Andaman by Hiramon Biswas, Sujan Baidya and Sudeep Joddar, all residents of R.K. Pur, who collected money from beneficiaries through cash and UPI transactions. The forged certificates were reportedly used to avail ship journey concessions and other benefits meant exclusively for genuine islanders.

Initially, Hiramon Biswas (25), Sujan Baidya (24) and Sudeep Joddar (23) were arrested and subsequently remanded to judicial custody by the Hon’ble Court. The prime accused, Sujoy Mondal (27), who had fled to West Bengal, was later arrested by the investigating team and brought back to Sri Vijaya Puram. He was also produced before the Hon’ble Court and remanded to judicial custody.

Police stated that further investigation is underway to identify additional beneficiaries and to ascertain the full extent of the racket.

The investigation was carried out under the supervision of Inspector Vishal Ram, SHO PS Aberdeen, under the command of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO South Andaman, with overall supervision by Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Andaman District.

The police have appealed to the general public to share any information related to crime or illegal activities by contacting 112 or the control room numbers 03192-232100, 03192-236641 and 03192-232400, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
