In a significant blow to the local narcotics trade, Aberdeen Police arrested two individuals in separate raids on April 30, recovering a large quantity of illegal drugs including methamphetamine and ganja.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a dedicated police team led by Inspector Vishal Ram, SHO of PS Aberdeen, conducted two meticulously planned raids. The operations resulted in the seizure of 17.52 grams of methamphetamine and 1.5 kilograms of ganja.
In the first operation, police apprehended Zulfikar Khan (38), a street vendor residing at House No. 21, Round Basti. Khan was arrested from his residence, where officers found 17.52 grams of methamphetamine in his possession.
In a separate raid at a rented room in the Mazar Pahad area, police nabbed Alapati Mani Raju (27), a diving instructor, with 1.5 kilograms of ganja. Raju is a resident of Mazar Pahad and the son of Alapati Kota Satyanarayana.
Both individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and investigations are currently underway to uncover further links in the drug network.
The raids were executed by a team comprising Sub-Inspector Abhishek Haldar, Head Constable Sunil Singh Yadav, and Constables Jagdish Babu, Jayraj, Surender Singh Yadav, Reya Mondal, and C.H. Dhanalakshmi. The operations were supervised by Mr. Vikas, IPS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, South Andaman, under the overall leadership of Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.

The identity of informants will be kept confidential.
