PS Baratang Seizes 55 Kilograms of Illicit Handia from South Creek

In a decisive crackdown on illicit activities, the Baratang Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector Surjit Bhattacharya, seized a significant quantity of illicit Handia in a raid conducted near Coral Creek Resort, South Creek, Baratang, on April 12, 2024.

Acting on reliable intelligence, Sub-Inspector Surjit Bhattacharya spearheaded the operation, supported by a dedicated team comprising Assistant Sub-Inspector Ram Babu, Head Constable Sunil, and Police Constables Ramesh and Karishma Lakra. The raid resulted in the confiscation of 55 kilograms of illicit Handia from the possession of Mrs. Saraswati Indwar, wife of Laxman Yadav, a 54-year-old private worker residing in South Creek, Baratang.

Following the seizure, authorities swiftly initiated legal proceedings against the accused, registering a case under Excise Regulation. Additionally, Mrs. Saraswati Indwar was served a notice under Section 41(A) of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC) for further legal action.

The operation unfolded under the vigilant supervision of Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Rangat, with overarching guidance from Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.

In a bid to encourage public participation in combating crime and illegal activities, law enforcement authorities urge citizens to promptly report any credible information to their nearest Police Station or via emergency hotlines at 100, 112, and 03192-273344. Informants can rest assured that their identities will remain confidential, with suitable rewards for their cooperation.
