In a significant stride towards empowering young girls, PS Billiground organized a self-defence training program for 200 female students at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Panchawati. This collaborative effort aimed to promote self-defence skills, physical fitness, and mental well-being among the participants.
Conducted by PC/1891 Anurudhra Das, Drill Instructor from PS Billiground, under the supervision of SI Shiju Kumar, SHO PS Billiground, the workshop encompassed a comprehensive range of techniques focusing on personal safety and physical fitness. Participants engaged in dynamic exercises and learned fundamental principles of various Unarmed Combat disciplines.
Expressing enthusiasm about the initiative, Mr. Rahul L Nair, IPS, SDPO Rangat, highlighted the importance of empowering young women with self-defence skills in today’s world. “Our goal is to instill confidence and resilience in these girls, enabling them to navigate the challenges they may encounter,” he stated.
Ms. Jolly Vincent, Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Panchawati, commended PS Billiground for contributing to the holistic development of their students. She emphasized the pivotal role of such initiatives in nurturing not only physical strength but also mental resilience among students.
The event concluded with a demonstration where participants showcased the skills they acquired during the training sessions. SP(D) N&MA provided certificates of participation to all the girls, recognising their commitment to learning and personal development.
This collaboration between PS Billiground and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Panchawati underscores the importance of fostering empowerment and self-reliance among young women. The Swaraksha Programme, envisioned by Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS SP (D) N&MA, has seen widespread implementation across North & Middle Andaman. The impact of this Swaraksha training program is expected to resonate positively in the lives of these girls, enhancing their overall well-being and confidence.
