In a determined crackdown on drug-related activities, the PS Central Crime Station of the Andaman and Nicobar Police achieved a significant breakthrough during a late-night raid on November 25th-26th, 2023. The operation, under the leadership of Mr. Kumar Abhishek, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID), and Mr. Vinay Mathur, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics), aimed to curb the sale and consumption of contraband substances across various locations.
During the intensive check near Desi Lounge Restaurant in Dollygunj, the team under Dy.SP (CID) apprehended a 32-year-old individual named Hamir, hailing from Calicut. Hamir was found in possession of 200 grams of Ganja and a stash of 583 Alprazolam tablets cleverly concealed within compartments of his car’s bonnet and trunk. Additionally, a sum of Rs. 19,200 in cash was confiscated from him. Notably, Hamir had a previous record in a different NDPS case registered at PS CCS in the year 2014.
A case under the NDPS Act has been filed against Hamir at PS Central Crime Station, with investigations actively underway. The raid was conducted under the overall supervision of Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, SP (CID). Furthermore, during the operation, three individuals roaming in intoxicated state were apprehended, and appropriate legal actions were taken against them.
The Andaman and Nicobar Police reiterated their relentless pursuit of curbing drug trafficking and ensuring that those responsible for such offences face legal consequences. They urged the general public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking or substance abuse promptly.
