In a decisive crackdown on drug-related activities, the Police Station Crime and Economic Offences (C&EO) of the Andaman and Nicobar Police seized 1.025 kilograms of ganja and arrested two individuals in a night raid on July 1, 2024.
Acting on specific intelligence received from a reliable source, a police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (CID) conducted the operation at New Bimblitan near Periaswamy Crusher. The team included Inspector Girish Kumar, SHO of PS C&EO, SI Parvash, HC K. Venkateshwar Rao, PC N. Thangaraj, PC K. Rajendran, and PC Amit Singh.
During the raid, Tanmoy Roy, a 29-year-old private carpenter residing in New Bimblitan, was found in possession of the ganja and was promptly arrested on the spot, following due legal procedures as per the new criminal laws.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, at PS C&EO. During a sustained joint interrogation, Roy disclosed information leading to the arrest of co-accused Sahil Hamid on July 3, 2024. Hamid, a 25-year-old resident of Calicut Junction, had previously been arrested under the Explosive Substances Act by PS C&EO.
The entire operation was conducted under the overall supervision of Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, SP (CID).
