PS Crime & Economic Offence Raid Disrupts Methamphetamine Network; Arrests and Seizures Expose Inter-Island Criminal Nexus

In a swift and decisive move against drug trafficking, a specialized team from the Crime & Economic Offence Police Station, led by Inspector Girish Kumar, carried out a meticulously planned raid at Malai Bijan, Haddo, on the night of April 26-27, 2024. The operation resulted in the apprehension of T. Naveen Kumar, along with the seizure of 31 grams of Methamphetamine.

The subsequent investigation uncovered a sophisticated network involved in the distribution of drugs. T. Naveen Kumar revealed the role of Sanjeev Mazumdar in procuring Methamphetamine from Hut Bay. Sanjeev Mazumder was swiftly arrested, and 18 grams of Methamphetamine were seized from his possession on April 27, 2024.

Further unraveling the intricate web of criminal activity, Eswar Rao was identified as the recipient of the illicit substance and was arrested on April 28, 2024, with 4.36 grams of Methamphetamine recovered from his possession.

In a coordinated effort to dismantle the syndicate, a dedicated team led by SI Parvash, HC Sanjit Madhu, and HC Sanjay Kujur conducted investigations at Hut Bay. On April 5, 2024, the team seized 200 grams of Methamphetamine from Bittu Gharami and 45 grams from Shridam Xalxo. Both were promptly arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act 1985.

Continuing their vigilant operation, the team recovered an additional 10 grams of Methamphetamine from Shridam Xalxo’s residence on May 7, 2024. Furthermore, 200 grams of Methamphetamine were seized from another accused, Saurav Dhali, leading to his prompt arrest.

Investigations revealed that prime accused Shridam Xalxo and Bittu Gharami, both from Little Andaman, were approached by Naveen Kumar and Sanjeev Mazumder during a visit to Hut Bay on April 11, 2024. A lucrative deal was struck, and Rs. 47,000 was transferred digitally to the account of Sukumar Mondal. The delivery of the contraband was delayed due to parliamentary elections. Undeterred, Naveen Kumar and Sanjeev Mazumder revisited Hutbay after elections and   finalised the delivery by paying an amount of Rs. 1.5 Lakhs through digital payments and cash to Shridam Xalxo and Bittu Gharami.

The coordinated efforts of the investigative team and officers from the Crime & Economic Offence Police Station, under the leadership of Inspector Girish Kumar, resulted in the seizure of 508.36 grams of Methamphetamine and the subsequent arrest of seven individuals involved in its possession and distribution. This operation sends shockwaves through illicit networks, demonstrating law enforcement’s unwavering commitment to preserving community safety and upholding the rule of law.

Transit remand for all four accused persons from Little Andaman has been obtained for their production before the Honourable Court at Port Blair on May 9, 2024. The entire operation was conducted under the command of Mr. Lakshay Pandey, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID), and under the overall supervision of Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, SP(CID).
