The North & Middle Andaman District Police have successfully busted illegal ganja cultivation in Gandhi Nagar, Diglipur, reaffirming their ongoing crackdown on narcotics-related activities.
On 07 November 2025, acting on credible intelligence inputs, a team from PS Diglipur led by Inspector Vijay Kumar, SHO, launched a targeted raid in the area. The team included SI Abdul Shakil, SI K.P. Abdul Aziz, HC Sanjit Madhu, and PCs Ashish Kumar Singh, Yasir Arafath, Bijoy Sarkar, Lalita Sarkar and Ramesh Lall, along with two independent witnesses. The operation was supervised by Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur.
During the search, police recovered one cannabis plant weighing approximately 102 grams, concealed behind a betel leaf plantation belonging to the suspect. The accused, Amar Das, 63, a resident of Ward No. 1, Gandhi Nagar, confessed to cultivating the plant for personal use and occasionally selling it to acquaintances. He was arrested on the spot, and a case under the NDPS Act has been registered at PS Diglipur.
The district police reiterated their commitment to creating a drug-free community through proactive enforcement, intelligence-driven operations and public cooperation.
