Pahargaon Police Station has achieved a significant milestone in an NDPS Act case registered on October 28, 2024. Acting under the leadership of Inspector Mohd Elias, SHO PS Pahargaon, the police successfully apprehended the main supplier of illicit ganja, R. Vijaya Kumar, from Tamil Nadu, marking a crucial development in the fight against drug trafficking.
The case stemmed from a raid conducted on October 28 at Jodakilan, where police seized 1.775 kg of illicit ganja and arrested three individuals. During subsequent investigations, an additional 300 grams of ganja was recovered, and the involvement of two more suspects in the procurement and transportation of the drugs was uncovered. Both individuals were traced and taken into custody.
Further interrogations revealed that one of the arrested individuals, Vinith Kumar, was collaborating with R. Vijaya Kumar, a resident of Koilambakkam, Chennai, who supplied the ganja from the mainland. Acting on this intelligence, a police team comprising Sub-Inspector Manish Narayan and ASI B. Semaiah was dispatched to Tamil Nadu to locate and apprehend the key supplier.
On November 14, 2024, the team successfully arrested R. Vijaya Kumar in Chennai. Following his arrest, the accused was presented before the JMFC-II Court in Alandur, Chennai, where a transit remand was secured. He was brought to Sri Vijaya Puram on November 15 and produced before the Special Judge (NDPS) Court in Port Blair, which granted police custody for further investigation.
The operation, conducted under the supervision of SDPO (South Andaman) Miss Anushtha Kalia, IPS, and overall guidance of SP (South Andaman) Mrs. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, underscores the commitment of the Andaman police to combat drug trafficking and maintain public safety.
