In a significant breakthrough, the team of Police Station Pahargaon has successfully solved a blind hit-and-run case that occurred on the night of May 17, 2025, near Bird Line, in front of Karpagam Hotel. The operation was carried out under the leadership of Inspector Mohd Elias, SHO, PS Pahargaon, showcasing swift and efficient police work.
At around 2200–2230 hrs on May 17, a pedestrian was hit by a speeding motorcycle. The rider fled the scene, and based on an eyewitness account, a case was registered at PS Pahargaon. The investigation was led by SI Manish Narayan with assistance from a dedicated team comprising HC Ravi Kumar Limbu and PCs Shiv Kumar and Rahul Mourya.
During the investigation, CCTV footage from the area was analyzed in detail. The visuals revealed that the vehicle involved was a Yamaha R15 motorcycle with a modified headlight. Based on this clue, the team conducted inquiries at local garages and workshops to identify owners of similarly modified R15 motorcycles. A search was then conducted in the Bird Line locality, which led to the identification of a suspect in Kamraj Nagar.
The suspect, identified as Avinit Singh, 22, son of Rajesh Singh, resident of Sippighat, was apprehended and interrogated. During questioning, he confessed to his involvement in the incident. The motorcycle, along with the helmet, raincoat, and clothing worn at the time of the incident, was recovered and seized by the police.
The case was cracked under the supervision of Mr. Ajay Rai, DANIPS, SDPO South Andaman, and overall supervision of Mr. Sunny Gupta, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
