In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024, scheduled for polling on 19/04/2024 across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has been rigorously enforced since 16/03/2024. Demonstrating unwavering dedication to upholding the MCC, the Pahargaon Police Station has recently executed a successful operation, resulting in the confiscation and destruction of a significant quantity of illicit liquor.
On 13/04/2024, the Pahargaon Police Station initiated a rapid and efficient operation in the dense Bimblitan jungle, targeting the illicit liquor trade. Acting swiftly on received intelligence, Ms. Anushtha Kalia, IPS(P), the Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Pahargaon, formed a specialized team led by Inspector Rahul. The team, comprised of Police Constables S.N. Pathak, Santosh Lal, Sandeep Lakra, and D. Shiv Kumar, executed a proactive raid, resulting in the confiscation of a substantial 350 litres of illicit liquor, along with utensils and timber materials used in its production. Following the seizure, all confiscated items were promptly destroyed, dealing a significant blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network operating in the region.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Vikas Swami, IPS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (South Andaman), with overarching guidance provided by Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
Members of the public are urged to play an active role in maintaining law and order by promptly reporting any instances of crime or illegal activities to the police at 100, 112, or 03192-250525. Informants’ identities will be kept confidential, ensuring their safety while contributing to the maintenance of peace and security in the community.
