PS Pahargaon Recovers Ganja from Courier Parcel, Arrests One

In a remarkable display of determination in the ongoing battle against narcotics, the diligent team at Police Station Pahargaon has once again emerged victorious. Their latest accomplishment involved the apprehension of an individual under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985, leading to the seizure of a substantial 120 grams of illicit ganja.

The breakthrough unfolded on August 10, 2023, when Police Station Pahargaon received credible intelligence from the Delhivery Courier Office in Garacharma. Officials at the courier office had flagged a suspicious parcel addressed to a certain “Ramesh Gosh.” Suspecting the package might contain illicit ganja, a swift response was initiated.

Under the guidance of Insp. Mariam, Police Station Pahargaon swiftly assembled a dedicated raiding team. The team, comprised of SI. Manish Narayan, PC/930 Jagdish Babu, PC/175 S.S Yadav, and PC/715 Santosh Lall, acted promptly to investigate the matter. Upon reaching the courier office, it became evident that the package had been left unclaimed for an extended period, arousing suspicions further.

In adherence to proper protocol, the raiding party meticulously conducted their inspection in the presence of two independent witnesses. Their thorough examination unveiled a stash of 120 grams of illicit ganja concealed within the parcel. Without delay, a case was formally registered under the provisions of the NDPS Act against an unknown individual.

The relentless efforts of the diligent police personnel at PS Pahargaon didn’t stop there. Through persistent investigation and tireless dedication, the suspect was identified as Ashish Tirkey, aged 24, and a resident of Japan Nallah, Bathubasti. The arrest of Tirkey within a mere 48 hours of the initial raid underscored the efficacy of the police’s determination and professionalism.

Supervision of the entire operation was carried out by Mr. Sunny Gupta, IPS, SDPO South Andaman, ensuring that all aspects of the investigation were executed with precision and in compliance with the law.
