A Public Grievances Hearing Camp was organized on March 8, 2026 at the Community Hall of Wandoor Gram Panchayat for the residents of Wandoor, Humfrygunj and Guptapara Gram Panchayats, providing an opportunity for villagers to directly place their grievances and concerns before the District Administration.

The camp was held in the presence of the Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, and the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Ms. Purva Garg, IAS. Also present were the Adhyaksh, South Andaman Zilla Parishad, Mr. Prakash Adhikari; the Superintendent of Police, South Andaman, Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS; the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, South Andaman, Mr. Kamleshwar Rao, IAS; the Additional District Magistrate, South Andaman, Ms. Priyanka Kumari; the Chief Engineer, APWD; Directors of various Departments; and the Pradhans, Panchayat Samiti Members and Ward Members of Wandoor, Humfrygunj and Guptapara Panchayats.

During the camp, villagers raised several issues, which were heard by the officials. The Deputy Commissioner noted that most of the grievances were related to revenue matters, water supply, roads, forest issues and electricity. She directed the Tehsildar, along with the Forest Ranger, Junior Engineers of APWD, Electricity and PRI, to conduct spot inspections at the locations related to the grievances and submit a report within two days so that necessary action can be taken and the concerned parties informed.

Prior to the camp, the Deputy Commissioner visited the Sub-Centre at Wandoor and observed that the approach to the facility was not easily accessible for patients, particularly pregnant women. She requested the Chief Engineer, APWD, to explore the possibility of constructing a proper approach road to ensure easier access to the Sub-Centre.

The camp witnessed active participation from residents of Wandoor, Humfrygunj and Guptapara Gram Panchayats and served as an important platform for strengthening communication between the Administration and the public.

The Public Grievances Hearing Camp is part of the ongoing efforts of the District Administration to reach out to the public and address issues at the grassroots level. A similar camp was held on March 7, for the residents of Sippighat and Calicut Gram Panchayats.

Earlier in the morning, a Yoga programme was organized at the same venue by the District Health Society from 7 am to 8 am to promote health and wellness among the community. The session saw good participation from villagers and local representatives, including the Pradhan, district-level officers, and the Medical Officer In-Charge and staff of PHC Manglutan.
