Randomisation Process Held in A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency for Classifying Presiding Officers and Polling Officers-1, 2 & 3 for Upcoming Election

In a bid to ensure the integrity and impartiality of the electoral process, the Office of the Returning Officer for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency conducted a Randomisation Process on February 17, 2024. The objective was to classify officials for various roles such as Presiding Officers, Polling Officers-1, 2 & 3, essential for the smooth conduct of free and fair elections.

Ms. Veditha Reddy, IAS, the Returning Officer for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency, supervised the randomisation process. The selection was carried out using specialised software developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Port Blair.

Over 2200 Government employees have been enlisted for polling duties, slated to serve across 412 polling booths scattered across the length and breadth of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This extensive deployment underscores the commitment to ensuring comprehensive coverage and effective administration of the electoral process.

The randomisation process is a crucial step in upholding the principles of transparency and neutrality in elections. By employing advanced technological tools, the Office of the Returning Officer aims to minimise human bias and ensure that each official is assigned duties impartially.

The randomization process marks a pivotal milestone in the preparations for the upcoming elections. With meticulous planning and adherence to procedural integrity, authorities aim to facilitate a smooth and trustworthy electoral process, thereby upholding the democratic values cherished by the nation.
