Mr. Rangalal Halder, President of the Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee, has formally appealed to the Chief Engineer of the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD) to expedite the repair and maintenance of the 3-kilometre rural road connecting Dhanikhari to Manglutan Junction.
In his letter, Mr. Halder expressed deep concern over the prolonged delay in commencing the vital roadwork, despite the tender being floated over a year and a half ago. The road, crucial for local residents, has significantly deteriorated, creating severe challenges for commuters and the transportation of goods, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
“This road is vital for the daily movement of people and essential services in the area,” stated Mr. Halder. “The current state of disrepair has made travel difficult and has further hampered the transportation of essential goods, adversely affecting the livelihoods of the local population.”
He urged the Chief Engineer to take swift action to initiate the much-needed repairs and maintenance. “Timely intervention will greatly alleviate the hardships faced by the community and contribute to the overall development of the area,” he added.
