President of the Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee, Mr. Rangalal Halder, has written a letter to the Health Secretary of the A & N Administration, highlighting the critical issue of the non-functional CT scan machine at GB Pant Hospital.

In his letter, Mr. Halder voiced his deep concern over the significant hardships patients are facing due to the inoperative CT scan machine. He emphasized that the unavailability of this essential diagnostic equipment is causing severe inconvenience and potentially life-threatening delays in treatment for many.

“The lack of a functional CT scan machine is leading to dire consequences,” Mr. Halder noted. “Patients are unable to proceed with necessary diagnostic tests, resulting in delays in treatment and worsening health conditions.”

He further elaborated that many patients, including the elderly and critically ill, rely on GB Pant Hospital for affordable and accessible medical services. Due to the non-functional CT scan machine, these patients are being advised to seek diagnostic services from private hospitals, which charge exorbitant fees that most cannot afford.

“Many patients, including the elderly and critically ill, rely on GB Pant Hospital for affordable and accessible medical services. Unfortunately, due to the non-functional CT scan machine, these patients are being advised to seek diagnostic services from private hospitals, which charge exorbitant fees that most of them cannot afford,” stated Mr. Halder.

Mr. Halder has requested immediate steps to be taken to either repair or replace the CT scan machine. He stressed that doing so would significantly alleviate the suffering of countless patients and reaffirm the commitment to providing quality healthcare to all residents of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, regardless of their financial status.
