The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Mr.  Rangalal Halder, has formally appealed to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, calling for the urgent installation of advanced solar-powered street lights in Harminder Bay, Little Andaman.

In his letter, Mr. Halder underscored the persistent issue of inadequate street lighting in the area, which has long affected the safety and mobility of residents during nighttime hours. He highlighted that the absence of proper illumination poses risks to pedestrians and commuters while also making the locality more vulnerable to unlawful activities.

Citing the region’s abundant solar energy potential, Mr. Halder stressed that solar-powered street lights would be a sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective alternative to conventional electricity-based lighting systems. He urged the administration to prioritise the proposal, considering its long-term benefits for the community.

Additionally, Mr. Halder requested an immediate evaluation of the proposal, including a site inspection and necessary approvals, to expedite the implementation of the project. He emphasized that swift action on this matter would greatly enhance public safety and improve the overall quality of life for residents in the region.
